“Mike Fox is a true leader with the ability to connect with people on all levels,” said Wellington RMB Association President Simon Barber recently when presenting Mike with Life Membership.

Life Membership for Mike Fox
It is a pleasure to award a life membership of our association to a simply outstanding and deserving recipient,” he said.
Mike joined the Wellington Association as a probationary member in February 1982, his original company was M J Fox Construction. Little did people realise at that time what an input he would have in future years and what impact he would make.
Twelve months later he was confirmed as a full member
In 1988 Mike’s company name became M & T Fox Ltd and again changed to Primesite Homes Ltd in 1989. Mike still operates Primesite today.
Mike joined the Wellington Association Executive in 1996 and became President in 2002. He served a total of 13 years on the local Executive.

Simon presents Mike with his life Membership. Mike’s partner Maria Miller watches on proudly.
In 2004 Mike’s interest in politics drew him to Victoria University, where for the following 18 months he took papers in Political Science. This stood him in good stead when, in 2004, he started his involvement with our Federation as Vice President, becoming the National President the following year.
Following his year as President Mike was elected to both the Federation Board and Master Build Services Board, where he remains today. In 2007 he was elected as Board Chairman, again a position he is still holds. Mike is also involved on the board of BRANZ and the Construction Strategy Group.
Mikes heavy involvement in advocacy work on behalf of all our members with Central Government is ongoing. His input in areas including licensing has been invaluable and has resulted in a fairer deal for our members than what was earlier proposed.

Mike thanks Simon and the Association.
Presenting the Life Membership Award at the recent House of the Year Awards dinner, Simon said “Having being interviewed by Mike as part of my process of joining Master Builders in 2003, I have seen him progress up to National board positions. A strength of Mike is his systems and planning ability and his vision.”
“Mike is a true leader with the ability to connect with people on all levels. I remember going away to my first conference in the Bay of Islands in 2005. Belinda, my wife, was worried she would be stuck with a bunch of people talking about the benefits of running gib board horizontally, or Placemakers discount structures, or what model Mazda they drove. By that stage Mike was National President, but he sought out Belinda and I at every opportunity to check that all was well, we had people to sit with at meals and we were meeting plenty of new people. It must have worked because we’ve been back every year since. Mike has made an impact on my career and that of many others,” Simon said.
Your Association congratulates Mike and wishes him all the best for the future.
